Have you ever been told by a doctor “it’s a virus, go home and let it run its course”? Recently there has been a severe respiratory virus in the world affecting children that have spread over ten states. There are no vaccines for viruses, and we are typically told to let it run its course, but for those who are immune compromised, or have allergies this virus could be very dangerous.
Essential oils have naturally antiviral and antibacterial properties. They can penetrate the cell wall where most OTC and pharmaceuticals can’t. Essential oils are powerful, so please be sure to use caution when using on children, and for those with sensitive skin. It is always wise to consult with a physician and use your own judgment as well. The following essential oils have been known to have anti-viral properties. My own natural medicine cabinet is stocked with these doTERRA essential oils.
Basil essential oil. Anti-infectious, antibacterial, antiviral. It can be used topically. An excellent choice for ear issues. Place one drop on a cotton ball and place in the ear. Cover with first aid tape. Often helps overnight.
Black pepper essential oil. Antispasmodic, antibacterial, antiviral. Black pepper essential oil is high in aldehydes which makes it a highly anti-viral essential oil.
Cassia essential oil. Anti-infectious, antibacterial, antiviral. Cassia is in the cinnamon family and is very hot. It should always be diluted.
Cinnamon essential oil. Anti-infectious, antibacterial, antiseptic, antiviral. Cinnamon is a great choice for an anti-viral but, like cassia, it is a hot oil. Always dilute.
Clove essential oil. Antifungal, antiseptic, antibacterial, anti-tumorous, antiseptic. Clove oil is one of the most powerful antiviral oils. Always dilute.
Melaleuca essential oil. Antifungal, antibacterial, anti-infectious, antiviral. Melaleuca (also known as tea tree oil) is a highly popular and widely used antiviral oil. It actually has many “anti-” properties and is always a good go-to.
Melissa essential oil. Antibacterial, antimicrobial, antiviral. Melissa is actually another one of the most powerful antiviral oils; it is on my list to get for free with my rewards points.
I recommend all beginners to start with Viagra because it is the most reliable and proven drug. Then, when you understand how such drugs act, what side effects they may have, you can switch to other medications. But, if the price of Viagra suits you, then I advise you not to change anything. I made my choice and stopped at Cialis. Problems with erection are fraught with complications and this is a more significant problem than that you can disgrace yourself before a woman. First a weak erection and six months later an erection may not appear at all. Therefore, once such problems arose, I would recommend to buy ED drugs on EDMeans online pharmacy to maintain potency.
OnGuard essential oil. Antiviral, antibacterial, anti-infectious. OnGuard is a blend clove, cinnamon, wild orange, rosemary, and eucalyptus essential oils. Not only is it highly anti-viral but it smells great. OnGuard is best used as a preventative. During cold and flu season, I keep a bottle in my keychain carrier and apply or inhale before and after public meetings.
Oregano essential oil. Antibacterial, antiviral, antimicrobial. Oregano is our go-to for hard-core issues, but it also has great antiviral properties. Two key constituents found in it are carvacrol and thymol. Thus it can reduce down pathogens — another must-have in our home.
Thyme essential oil. Antibacterial, antiviral, antimicrobial, antiseptic. Thyme is another anti-viral powerhouse. Thyme essential oil if often used in natural cleaning supplies as a disinfectant. It is also great for opening bronchial passageways.
While I do have concerns about viruses that can affect my children, I do not live in a state of fear. I also have great confidence that my essential oils are powerful and effective. What about you? Are you concerned about this respiratory virus? How would you combat this virus?
Remember, I am not a doctor; I am just a mom who loves her essential oils and love sharing a natural alternative to helping my children get better. Remember to use common sense, less is more and to dilute when using on children. Oils are not to replace medical treatment, and if the condition is serious or life-threatening, please consult a physician.
